Singing for pure water

On 12th February 2009 175+ cities around the world will be hosting Twestivals which bring together Twitter communities for an evening of fun and to raise money and awareness for charity: water.

The Twestival is organized 100% by volunteers in cities around the world and 100% of the money raised from these events will go directly to support charity: water projects.
I will be contributiong to the cause by playing at the Twestival in Stockholm, as will Swedish band The Deportees. You can buy tickets to attend and the ticket fees will go to the cause as well.

Banjo duel anyone?

Hope you all had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year.
I bought myself a Banjo for Christmas. It’s a bit tricky to play, but I’m trying my best. Next album I’ll try to use it on a few songs. Yeeeehaaa!

This year’s Christmas single is dedicated to all those people who need a helping hand, whether it is the lonely teenager or the homeless man on the street. This single is a free download, but I urge you to use the money you would have spent on it on iTunes to help someone less fortunate. My donation is to Stadsmissionen who helps homeless people in Sweden. If you give a gift to them by text message you will receive this Christmas single as a cellphone signal. “Sofia Talvik is a pop star on the rise. She has already conquered her native Sweden, won the hearts of those at Chicago’s Lollapalooza music festival in August of 2008, and in March of 2009 the gifted singer / songwriter, with the breathtaking vocals, will be appearing at SXSW in Austin Texas, followed by an appearance at the Canadian Music Festival in Toronto, Canada. Talvik, who writes all of her lyrics in English, has received strong radio play on Sweden’s radio stations, and recently recorded a mini concert and interview for SR P3, which was aired on November 12th. Her current CD Jonestown is causing quite a stir on the international music scene, with her single, “My James Dean…”

2 X Christmas charity

Christmas is a time to do good deeds and I’ve stocked up on them this year! MQ (one of Sweden’s largest clothing companies) has joined forces with the Red Cross this Christmas in the campaign “Give a little bit” and I’m very happy to be a part of it. There will be a commersial on TV with 16 Swedish artists and we’re all giving our fees to the Red Cross.
