Christmas is approaching!

I know what you think – but it’s only the beginning of November. But December 1st my Advent Calendar or Christmas Calendar as it is also called will start airing on my website. An Advent calendar is a special calendar which is used to count or celebrate the days of Advent in anticipation of Christmas. If you never heard of an Advent calendar before, check it out here.

A lot of crazy stuff is gonna happen, and I want YOU to be a part of it. Check out the different ways you can participate below:

Get a rhyme for your Christmas gift
One of the windows in my calendar will be a what we in Sweden call a “rimstuga”. Litterally it means rhyme cottage, but it really means that people get together to make up rhymes for their Christmas gifts. If you are planning on giving a Christmas gift to someone special and need help with the rhyme, me and my band will help you do it live in one of the calendar shows. Just email your name, who the gift is for and what it is to and we hope to come up with something good for you. We’ll write the rhymes in either English or Swedish and they will also be published on my website. You can submit until December 1st, mark your email RHYME.

Get Sofia as a Christmas caroler!
Would you like to have Sofia turn up on your doorstep singing a couple of Christmas songs for you, or do you want to send her as a caroler-ogram to someone you love? It will be filmed and aired as a window in the calendar. Send an email to with your name, who you would like Sofia to sing for, your phone number and address and we’ll get in touch with you. Mark the email CAROL. Due to logistics this offer will only be available in Stockholm, Sweden.

What’s the Christmas gift of the year?
Every year people speculate about what will become the Christmas gift of the year. I’m not asking you to do that … BUT! I am asking you what you think should be the Christmas gift of the year. It could be anything from world peace to some crazy thingie you found online. The best/funniest/most special ideas will be presented as a window in the calendar and will be awarded a Sofia Talvik Christmas gift with 3 signed CDs. Send an email to with your name and adress, what you think should be the Christmas gift of the year and most importantly why. Feel free to include links to pictures if it’s a thing you can buy. Guest artists revealed!

I’m happy to announce the guest artists that will be performing with me on my Christmas shows in December. Make sure you book your tickets before they’re all sold out. Cornelisrummet at Mosebacke only takes 50 people per concert and the tickets are already available for purchase here. Sofia Talvik’s Julmys is a Christmas show where I will play my original Christmas songs alongside my favourite wintery songs by other artists like Tom Waits, Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen. I’m also very happy to announce that 3 very talanted stars from Sweden will join me for a show each.

Almost 15 years have passed since the birth of her solo carrier, and yet Meja’s history is not about what happened “ then”. It will always be about what Is happening” now”. The Mega hits are still spinning around in our minds, our lips are still humming “It´s all about the Dum-dum-du-du-du-dum” and the stories of the Japanese mass euphoria are regarded as literacy. It’s nice with fixed stars, the artists we feel are “ours” whom we can feel proud of. But to rely on old ways would be unfair, not only to Meja’s variety and creativity, and if we don’t look ahead we will miss out on a multifaceted artist with the fingers in more cookie jars than most.

Known for both his career in the band Loosegoats as well as his many praised solo albums, Christian Kjellvander is probably the most American country-esque singer/songwriter in the whole of Scandinavia. Or as “The Sun” describes his music; “You’d bet your bottom dollat that the man behind it lived in a small American town.”

December 12th: Pernilla Andersson

Pernilla Andersson is in her spare-time a passionate fisherman. She also runs her own label Sheriff, has produced several albums and released no less than 6 solo albums in both English and Swedish. This Swedish bombshell has several talents and and a heart of gold. She’s involved in the project “Don’t mess with out water” and some of the profits from her latest album goes to the cause of saving the sea environment in the Baltic sea.

Spread the word!

If you’ve signed up as a fan on reverbnation or ticked the box “join the street team” when you signed up on my newsletter, you already know what I’m talking about. Being part of my street team is about spreading the word about my music.

I have a lot of great stuff coming up for Xmas and it’s time for me to gather the street team and make something real out of it. But I can’t do it alone. I need YOUR help! So that’s why I’m looking for a few dedicated officers to take charge of the street team, make their own groups and be a bigger part of all the fun stuff we have planned. Together we can build an army!

So how do you know you’re officer material? Well, first of all you love the music. You can’t wait to tell your new friends about it. You’ve joined basically every competition there has been on sofiatalvik.com and of course you have all the album. In other words, music is you passion and this music in particular! Is this you? Sofia Talvik’s julmys på Mosebacke

I’ll be doing three Christmas shows in Stockholm in December. Information in Swedish below:

Cornelisrummet, Mosebacke – 5, 6, 12 Dec 2009 – kl. 19:00
Passa på att besöka en annorlunda julkonsert i år! Singer/songwritern Sofia Talvik är känd för att bjuda sina fans på en gratis jullåt varje år och i december kan man dessutom njuta av dessa live på Mosebacke. Traditionella och otraditionella jullåtar blandas med Sofias egna när hon och hennes band bjuder in till julmys i Cornelisrummet. En hemlig gästartist utlovas också till vardera av konserterna, samt glögg och pepparkakor.
Cornelisrummet tar bara 50 personer så passa på att förboka dina biljetter nu. Pris 150kr.

No it’s not Playboy or Sports Illustrated. Much better… It’s for the Scandinavian Girls group on last.fm

Summerdreamin has an awsome group on last.fm that list all the wonderful Scandinavian female artists on the site. Free downloads, streaming albums etc. If you have a favourite female artist that you want to tell them about, be sure to become a member and post your suggestion on the forum.
