Unmistakably Nordic in flavor, Sofia Talvik somehow still conforms to American interpretations of her own original music, a North Sea siren blending sparkle and melancholy, creating a special niche of folk music.
I’ve visited some folk radio shows here in Cleveland, OH for my upcoming shows. I was invited to play some songs and chat about the tour at Just Plain Folk with Twistin’ Tom and will put up a link when it’s airing, and Saturday July 7th Jimmie Wilson of WRUW 91.1’s morning show Roll Away the Dew treated me to some studio time as well, to which you can listen here:
I’m in the Buckeye state! That’s Ohio for all of you who are not familiar with this somewhat weird nick name. I actually had to look up what it means and here’s what I found out. Not only did the state have a lot of Buckeye trees but William Henry Harrison who ran for president in 1840 used a log cabin made out of buckeye wood his trademark and the name of the tree itself comes from the markings on the nut that resembles the eye of a buck, the Indians called it “hetuck” or “buckeye.” So that’s today’s history lession for you. Now, let’s focus on what’s yet to come!
I’m doing a bunch of gigs here in the Buckeye state and I hope to see you there of course! Here’s all upcoming Ohio dates:
Monday, 07/09 Cleveland, OH Barking Spider Tavern Wednesday, 07/11 Akron, OH Acoustix Cafe Thursday, 07/12 Akron, OH Annabells Bar and Lounge Friday, 07/13 Columbus, OH Woodland Tavern Tuesday, 07/17 Cincinnati, OH Sitwell’s Coffee House Wednesday, 07/18 Cincinnati, OH Mayday Northside Thursday, 07/19 Dayton, OH South Park Tavern
The New York episode of Drivin’ & Dreaming TV is finally up. Come with me to the museum of National History, check out the 100th gig on the tour and hear what NYC cab drivers have to say about capitalism. This is the best way for you to follow me on tour and see all the behind the scene things that’s going on every day.
You can see pictures from all my shows on my Facebook page here!
As usual all music in the episode can be found here! Help me keep the “Drivin’ & Dreaming Tour” on the road. Donate Gas, Food and Beer – Click this link and follow the instructions http://pic.twitter.com/7dEothYK
Today on our way out from Cleveland, OH we got a flat tire on the RV *sobbing* – So it seems a new front tire for the RV will set me and the tour back about $400 🙁 I put up a little “Tire Fund” and if you have a few dollars to spare I would be extremely grateful if you could help me out by donating to help keep the Drivin’ & Dreaming Tour on the road, right now we’re stranded.
