Unmistakably Nordic in flavor, Sofia Talvik somehow still conforms to American interpretations of her own original music, a North Sea siren blending sparkle and melancholy, creating a special niche of folk music.
Hey! It’s my birthday and I want to give YOU presents!
Oh, so now you think I’m all old and crazy all of a sudden? Fear not, I’m still a young woman in my best age. But since most of you guys can’t be here to celebrate with me I want to make this a special day for all of us anyway.
I’m putting all my albums on “Pay What You Want” and yes you can pay me anything from $1.000.000 to zero, nada, zilch, nothing. How’s that for a birthday bash??
A couple of years ago I did a complete video Christmas Calendar and every year I release a Christmas single. This year I’m doing the Christmas calendar again, although this time it’s not going to be all video. It will be a mix of Christmassy things, for example my favorite Christmas recipes, songs, special giveaways etc.
The BIG reward this year for signing up you’ll be the first to get my new Christmas single “One Last Wish For Christmas”.
So starting December 1st you’ll get a daily update from me until December 25th if yousign up NOW sign up here!
I’ve hit California and I’ve already done a few shows around the northern part, but I have many left. I hope to see you in San Francisco, San Luis Obispo, Los Angeles and San Diego in the near future. Here’s some of my upcoming dates, to see all my upcoming gigs go to https://sofiatalvik.com/gigs.
An understated, folky Swedish singer-songwriter who alternates between beatific odes and disturbingly dark musings, Sofia Talvik possesses a voice that’s translucent, soft and deceptively cool.
Swedish music mag Lira recently published an interview about my tour and wrote a really nice review for my new album The Owls Are Not What They Seem or as I like to call it “TOANWTS”. As the magazine isn’t available outside Sweden, I’m sharing a translated extract of the review with you here:
What really lifts the songs are the symphonic but soothingly so produced string arrangements, the playful flute and not to mention – the warm-sounding trombone. The musicians give the songs the very personality you’re longing for, especially at the times when the soloists step outside the harmonious sound. My fondness for the singer/songwriter genre is not particularly large but Sofia Talvik’s music captures, touches and radiates at the same time an indefinable beauty.
