Concert in your home!

Have you ever dreamed of having your favorite independent artist perform a private concert just for you and your guests?

Starting in October 2011 I will do an extensive tour in the US. I’m now looking for people who would like to host a concert in their home.

Simply put, a House Concert is a private party, employing live original music, held in a private home, garden, civic center, church or other space under your exclusive control. There would need to be enough parking nearby and your neighbors should be cool. It would be a huge bummer if someone called the cops because of all the extra cars and people coming to your house. You should probably not do this if you live in a small apartment with a bunch of uptight neighbors, room mates or a cranky landlord.

You should be able to host a minimum of 10-15 people. It’s up to you to invite people and spread the word about the concert. You can choose for yourself if you just want to invite friends or if you want to advertise the concert publicly. You have to guarantee the artist a minimum of 10 paying guests. A $10-20 donation per guest should be paid to the performer and it’s also customary, but not required, to offer the artist a home cooked meal and a room for the night. A stage isn’t required, and the PA system will be provided by the artist.

Your home address will not be published on the web and we will negotiate from concert to concert if you would like to publish any contact information to you about the concert or if you wish assistance with promotion.

Contact us if you would be interested in hosting a concert or would like more information.

Here’s a preliminary tour route so you’ll know when we’ll be in your state.
If your state is not on the list and you want to host a concert please throw us an email anyway and we’ll consider your offer.

Picture Competition – Winner announced!

Sofia Talvik live at Södra Teatern 2010

We had a little competition on the night of the release party where all you fans could take a picture of the gig, post it on Facebook and compete for a Sofia Talvik Florida tote. We had so many great contributions that it was really hard to choose a winner.

But by capturing the happiness and and ambiance of the gig and by proving that you do not need a professional camera to take a great picture Therese Göterheim made us look twice at this lovely picture.

Album release party

Sofia Talvik gig at Södra Teatern Stockholm live new album Florida

This Monday we had a wonderful night at the fantastic venue “Södra Teatern” celebrating the release of my new album “Florida”. The place was packed with people and we had a fun gig playing many of the new songs. During the gig we had a little competition where people could win a Sofia Talvik tote if they took a picture and tagged it as me on Facebook. We got so many great pics. Here’s a few of them and we’ll appoint a winner at the end of this week.

There’s also an acoustic version of the entire album that will be available for purchase in a week or so.

Lots of parties!

I know it’s a kinda weird headline, but this week there has been a lot of parties. Monday night me and the band celebrated the release of “Florida” at the beautiful “Södra Teatern” in Stockholm. We had a great night, the place was packed and we played 8 of the songs from the new album. No one asked me if I could play any ABBA so that was a perk!

Yesterday I attended my friend Dusty Monroe‘s release party for his debut album. Dusty himself looked a bit like Robert Smith on stage with wild makeup and tousled hair. During the gig ballet dancers, robots and a pregnant opera singer in a white sorcerers dress appeared on stage. Half my band who also play with Dusty were all made up in greek helmets and makeup. I was bummed they didn’t wear the same outfit to our release.. or not haha. It was a great gig. Dusty is really a live artist, but check out his album if you like electronica mixed with pop and surf.

I’m off to Gothenburg today to play at a radio show tomorrow and see my parents. Mum and dad have just been backpacking in India. They’re rather adventurous for a retired couple. Me and Jonas is actually alone in the first class carriage, and we just got stuck south of Stockholm due to some problems with the tracks. Good thing I’m in first class where there’s free wifi so I can do some blogging.

No country for old men

We’re on the road. Stuck in a too small pick up truck. The only upside is the Jack Daniels for the guys and the scenery for me. Tonight we’re staying at a really lousy motel. Motel 6 would look like the Hilton compared to this ;-). Well at least I have wifi so I can do my blogs, check my emails and all that. We’ve been joking about staying at a motel like the ones in “No country for old men” and now we are. We walked to a Mexican restaurant across the street and while we were in there the guys spotted a man that looked EXACTLY like the guy in “No country for old men”. I tried to take a picture of him with my iPhone, it’s not great but you’ll see.

I’m really looking forward to coming to Austin so we can decide our own pace and our own stuff and have some fun and play some music.
