Unmistakably Nordic in flavor, Sofia Talvik somehow still conforms to American interpretations of her own original music, a North Sea siren blending sparkle and melancholy, creating a special niche of folk music.
To give you a break from all the Santa Clauses and elfs on TV I’m sharing my very own Drivin’ & Dreaming show in this window of the Christmas Calendar. During 2012 I have been touring all over the US and for a while I was ambitious to film and edit it as well. Here’s 10 episodes covering the Drivin’ & Dreaming tour 2012 from North Carolina all the way to Illinois.
You’ll get to see White Trash McGywer fix the RV when it breaks down, follow us backstage, meet a lot of wonderful people and of course enjoy a lot of great music by me and many other artists and bands. It’s been such an adventure and I’m so happy I got to share it with all of you!
Just had to share some of these great fan reviews I’ve received for the new album. After all the real critics are the listeners:
Sofia Talvik’s mastery of the acoustic has never been more evident than in her latest album – The Owls Are Not What They Seem. Her fifth album, in which Sofia has ‘gone back to basics’ is a stunning display of her vocal prowess and lyrical talent… unpretentious, yet powerfully moving. I have had TOANWTS for only a few days now, but have listened to it probably a dozen times now… and each time is even better than the last. Thank you, Sofia!
Veronica Marie Lewis-Shaw (USA)
You’ve really outdone yourself on the sound on this album Sofia. I always expect great music from you, but this has gone way past those expectations.
Allison Renee (Canada)
As you may know by now I’m having a pledge for my upcoming EP “L” the first of 4 EPs to be released 2011 and here’s the deal. You can pre-order the EP and thereby help me fund it – or if you want to be even more involved you can choose one of the many options on the site – it’s up to you how much you want to help. Check it out here:
This is how it works: if you pledge no money will be withdrawn from your account until the whole pledge is over at the end of January. If the pledge doesn’t come through and we don’t reach 100% no money will be withdrawn from you at all, but you also won’t get the things you ordered. So it’s crucial for you and me that this pledge comes through because you want some great music and some great stuff and I want to get some great music out there!
I’ve just posted an update where you can listen to one of the new songs! How about that. Check it out now!
I’m the featured artist in Amelia Magazine, choosing a few of my favorite songs right now! If you want to check out some other great music that I listen to, check out my blog for links to my Spotify playlists!
For 10 days I will make a playlist on Spotify every day with one of my songs from my new album ‘Florida’ and some other songs from my favourite artists. So if you want to hear some great music make sure you tune in and listen. Links will be posted on Facebook and Twitter every day.
If you missed the first one yesterday, you can listen here!
