Unmistakably Nordic in flavor, Sofia Talvik somehow still conforms to American interpretations of her own original music, a North Sea siren blending sparkle and melancholy, creating a special niche of folk music.
In 2008 I became the first female Swedish artist to play at the Lollapalooza festival. It was also my first US tour and now, four years later I’ve done a lot of tours and am on my biggest one ever. Since December I’ve done over 100 gigs in the US and I’m working my way towards Chicago again. So when an opportunity arrose to enter a competition for a slot at this year’s Lollapalooza I felt I had to enter. But in order to make them understand that they should book me I need YOUR help. Sofia Talvik is doing her 100th gig on the tour tonight
Today May 29th I’m doing the 100th gig on the Drivin’ & Dreaming tour! We’ve had such a journey, been all through the deep south, in Texas for SxSW and back to the east coast, and now we’re hitting number 100 in New York City tonight at Pianos (7pm).
The tour has been amazing so far. I’ve experienced so much and met so many wonderful people. But it’s by no means over. We’re fully booked until August in NY, MA, ME, CT, PA, OH, IL and IA and we will keep on trucking towards the west coast. I hope to see so many more friendly faces and keep spreading my music like a wildfire over the US. If you haven’t got my new album yet there’s a limited amount of physical CDs for sale here!

I just landed a last minute show in Baltimore, MD this Wednesday May 16th. I’m playing at Cyclops (30 West North Ave.) with Baltimore band American Folklore and NYC singer/songwriter Anthony DaCosta. After that I’ll be heading up to Philadelhia, PA for a show at Connie’s Ric Rac on Thursday. I hope to see a lot of friendly faces on the shows!
So, since I don’t have enough work with booking, promo and playing shows to fill 30 hours of the day, I also decided to start filming our adventure and do a little TV show out of it. It will air here on my website and all episodes will be available on Youtube.
