Unmistakably Nordic in flavor, Sofia Talvik somehow still conforms to American interpretations of her own original music, a North Sea siren blending sparkle and melancholy, creating a special niche of folk music.
The Drivin’ & Dreaming tour has landed in Seattle, WA which means we’ve made it cross country and finally hit the West Coast! And we couldn’t have done it without you! We broke down in Idaho, but you came through for us and funded some new tires and ball joints and got us back on the road so THANK YOU to all of you who helped out with that!! Below you’ll find a little video about it, and some pics from various shows around the country! You can find all the Drivin’ & Dreaming pics here! Thanks for supporting us all this way! Check out our upcoming shows in WA, OR and CA here!
As an indie artist, CD Baby has been my loyal companion and part of my career for many years. I was lucky enough to met the CD Baby people at the Folk Alliance international conference earlier this year and they emailed me a while ago and asked me to write a blog about how to plan and execute a US tour.
When I got the questions I felt like, hey, my answers will be sooo long it’ll turn into a book, because there’s just so much I’ve learned along the way and there’s so many details that I could include. But I tried to keep it brief so that you wouldn’t loose site of the purpose (or your excitment on planning your tour) halfway through all the tiedious details on how to get a US drivers license etc. I hope I covered the basic “need to knows” as well as some good tips for artists, touring or not, and the rest is out there in cyberspace if you google it 🙂 Read it here!
Last night I played at The Coffee Hag in Mankato with Laura Schultz from Goodnight Gold Dust and Fox News Mankato came out and did a little interview and filmed some from my set. You can watch the clip here:
This week I’m heading up to Karl-Oskar and Kristina’s old hoods, i.e Minnesota! I’m doing a bunch of gigs in the area so I hope to see you and all your Swedish and American friends there! Here’s my upcoming shows in MN:

This Thursday I was invited to play at the Swedish American Museum in Chicago. What a great night it turned out to be. I’ve played at the museum once before, when I was on my Lollapalooza tour in 2008 so it was a real treat to be invited back. There were over 120 people in the audience and we had a very nice VIP reception before the show.
Many thanks to Karin Moen Abercrombie and the other board members of the Swedish American Museum for a wonderful night, and to Konstnärsnämnden for supporting as well.
Here’s some pictures from the show. You can see the full album here!
