Sofia Talvik – Americana / Folk with Swedish Roots
Unmistakably Nordic in flavor, Sofia Talvik somehow still conforms to American interpretations of her own original music, a North Sea siren blending sparkle and melancholy, creating a special niche of folk music.
I am a huge fan of AMC’s “Hell on Wheels”. And when I had recorded my song “Give Me A Home” (Big Sky Country) it struck me how well it would fit to the star-crossed love story of Eva and Elam in the show. The love story itself runs over several seasons, but I cut it together in a video to my song, as a tribute to the show.
STIM, the Swedish version of BMI/ASCAP has awarded Sofia Talvik their stipend this year. Artists are evaluated based on artistic activity and quality. The STIM stipend is intended as an investment in the future, and a contribution to creating new Swedish music, by promoting young talent and individuals who show a diverse and intriguing artistic activity.
I am extremely humbled and grateful to be one of the chosen artists for this year. Many thanks to STIM for awarding me this honor.

So the other day White Trash McGyver discovered that Lil’Chief (for you who do not know this, Lil’Chief is our tour RV) needed some new parts for the steering system. Upon taking Lil’Chief to the RV hospital, we realised that he was NOT covered by Obama-care or any other care for that part, and that we needed to cough up $600 from our hard earned tour money to get back to the road. And the doctors warned us that we should really get new brake pads as well, or Lil’Chief might not stop running until he falls over the edge of the world (which would be really bad if there are any red lights on the way).
