Cultural laureate of 2025

I am deeply honored and grateful to share that I have been awarded the 2025 Cultural Laureate by Orusts Sparbank. This recognition means so much to me. To know that my work resonates with my home community is both humbling and incredibly meaningful.

This generous support from Orusts Sparbank gives me valuable space to continue my artistic journey and to explore new musical expressions.

My heartfelt thanks go to Orusts Sparbank and the municipality of Orust for their long-standing commitment to culture and to supporting local artists. Your belief in the work we do truly makes a difference. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to grow, create, and share my music with listeners both near and far.

Winter tour and a new Christmas album

I’m thrilled to announce the release of my new Christmas album, Wrapped in Paper — a collection of 12 songs, including three brand-new tracks. The album is now available for pre-order on my website at music.sofiatalvik.com in two versions: a standard edition, and a deluxe version that comes with a handmade golden wax seal, a lyric book, and wrapped in a forest-green organza gift bag, — the perfect keepsake or holiday gift.

With Wrapped in Paper, I’m closing a chapter — my long tradition of releasing a new Christmas song every year. The album gathers together all the holiday songs I’ve written since 2017, including two new originals and an open-tuning cover of “Silent Night.” It captures the softer, more emotional side of Christmas — stories of hope, humanity, and reflection.

But that’s not all! If that’s not enough music for the season, I’m also releasing a brand-new album with my side project Hansan — a stunning collection of songs in Swedish, featuring a special duet with Swedish rock poet Stefan Sundström. The album will be released November 24th and you can find it at hansanmusic.com. Between the two releases, you’ll have all your Christmas shopping sorted!

To celebrate, I’ll be heading out on my annual Winter Concert Tour, beginning with a special show at the House of Sweden in Washington, D.C., before continuing to Germany, where I’ll be joined for select performances by Regina Mudrich on violin and Martin Zemke on bass.

My Winter Concerts are intimate evenings filled with my own original Christmas songs, and a few carefully chosen covers — but you won’t hear any Jingle Bells. Instead, I’ll share songs that reflect the quieter, more heartfelt side of the holidays.

I hope you’ll join me this winter, whether by listening to Wrapped in Paper, exploring the new Hansan album, or coming to one of my concerts, and share in a moment of warmth, reflection, and Scandinavian calm. See all the dates here and reserve your ticket today.

Summer Tour in Europe

I’m back in Europe after nearly 4 months of touring the U.S. We had so many great shows and experiences and after a brief pause, trying to get in to the time zone, washing my clothes and generally resetting, I am now preparing for my upcoming shows in Germany and Belgium.

The shows will all be solo shows, but stay tuned for November and December when I have many winter shows booked with my Bremer Stadtmusikanten.

My bandcamp page is now open for a limited time for physical CDs and vinyl. Downloads are always available in my shop: http://music.sofiatalvik.com

Blue Moon is now available on vinyl

Would you believe I am so old! It is 20 years ago this year, since I released my debut album Blue Moon.

To celebrate I am releasing a special vinyl edition of the album in a high quality 12’ black vinyl, with additional 4/4 artwork and all the lyrics printed on the inner sleeve. The album contains the same songs and the original recordings as the original CD. This is not a re-make.

Blue Moon was my first venture into becoming an artist, and we recorded this album during 40 intense hours in a small studio in Stockholm in 2005. My backing band ”The Tallboys” continued to record and play live with me for many years and a few of the guys still play live, and on recordings, with me when they can. Still 20 years later, I consider them all some of my best friends. I am very happy to be able to offer this album as a vinyl, years after the album was discontinued as a CD.

So as if that was not enough, my side project Hansan is also releasing both our albums, ”Nattflykt” and “Blood seller Bläck” as vinyl. Why not save on shipping and order all three at the same time.

These albums are unique releases and will only be available to purchase online. That means I won’t have them at my live shows. They don’t come signed, but if you want them signed, you can always bring your copy when you come to my show and I’ll gladly sign them for you.
