AT Christmas – new Christmas single released

Happy Holidays! My yearly Christmas single is released. This year I was inspired by a chilling (pun intended) story that my friend Ben told me, about his near death experience on the Appalachian Trail in the wintertime. That’s why the song is called AT Christmas, as AT being short for Appalachian Trail. If you’ve followed me for a while you know that my Christmas singles are mostly on the darker side so my song doesn’t have a happy ending, but Ben’s story did, and he lived to tell me. Ben agreed to share his story with you and you can read it here:

https://sofiatalvik.com/at-christmas-bens-story/
As usual the song is a free download (by putting a zero in the pay what you want box), but unfortunately the song was everything else than free for me to record and release, so if you want to contribute to the cost, or just give me a Christmas gift, feel free to put in any other number than zero in the box.  Download and listen here:

It’s also getting harder and harder to break through the noise, and now you need 4100 listeners in the 28 first days of release on Spotify to be able to get a chance to get recommended to new listeners. So please save the song to your Spotify holiday playlist, share with friends, and on your social media, and that would make me very happy.  Stream it here:

Have a wonderful holiday season.

Announcing U.S Tour dates, and new video

Sofia Talvik - U.S Tour 2024

It’s only a few weeks until I kick off my 4 month U.S tour in Deming, NM at the Historic Depot. Following that show I will be doing 56 more concerts all over the South and all the way up to New England, including a stop at The Town and the City Festival in Lowell, MA. All the upcoming concerts are announced on https://sofiatalvik.com/gigs as well as on Facebook. Hope to see you on the road!

To celebrate the start of the tour I am releasing a video for one of my favorite songs from the new album, Desert Nights. The video was filmed in October at Windy Point, AZ and got an exclusive premiere on Americana-UK yesterday.

“Drifting over these absorbing textures, Talvik’s pure voice has a dream-like quality, creating an ethereal-folk sound that is a distinctive blend of Americana and her Swedish influences. ” – Americana UK

Mini Documentary about Center of the Universe

I was so lucky to be able to fulfill my vision when making my new album Center of the Universe. I really wanted the process to be as organic and natural as possible, to be far away from distractions, and to let the songs come to life through the sound and heartbeat of all musicians in one room at the same time.

We captured some of the time we spent in the studio and turned it into a mini documentary with commentary on my thoughts, the production and the backstory behind some of the songs. As the album has gained so many wonderful reviews, been considered for a Grammy Nomination in the category Best Folk Album, and has been hanging on to Folk Radio Charts USA all Fall of 2023, I now think it’s time to release the mini documentary to the world. Come with us into the studio in Sulegång.

“The fact is, this is an album so captivating and compelling each offering begs repeated listens in order to fully appreciate their celestial sounds. A masterwork flush with both ambition and intrigue, Center of the Universe could be considered a musical marvel.”
