As an indie artist, CD Baby has been my loyal companion and part of my career for many years. I was lucky enough to met the CD Baby people at the Folk Alliance international conference earlier this year and they emailed me a while ago and asked me to write a blog about how to plan and execute a US tour.

When I got the questions I felt like, hey, my answers will be sooo long it’ll turn into a book, because there’s just so much I’ve learned along the way and there’s so many details that I could include. But I tried to keep it brief so that you wouldn’t loose site of the purpose (or your excitment on planning your tour) halfway through all the tiedious details on how to get a US drivers license etc. I hope I covered the basic “need to knows” as well as some good tips for artists, touring or not, and the rest is out there in cyberspace if you google it 🙂 Read it here!

Help me get to Lollapalooza and I will take you with me!

In 2008 I became the first female Swedish artist to play at the Lollapalooza festival. It was also my first US tour and now, four years later I’ve done a lot of tours and am on my biggest one ever. Since December I’ve done over 100 gigs in the US and I’m working my way towards Chicago again. So when an opportunity arrose to enter a competition for a slot at this year’s Lollapalooza I felt I had to enter. But in order to make them understand that they should book me I need YOUR help. The rat in the RV

You know the rat in the pizza myth. So there’s a couple of misperceptions about our tour and the RV, and some of them are so reaccuring that I felt I had to write a little post about it. Everyone’s been really sweet and I know they all mean well and just don’t know better but here’s the most common things people think/ask/tell us about our tour and the RV. It always makes me smile 🙂

“You can stay in our guest room and have a good night’s sleep in a REAL bed”
Well, we actually have a brand new IKEA Sultan Queen Size mattress with a real feather duvet in our bedroom in the RV, but thanks 😉

“You should come over for dinner, when was the last time you had a home cooked meal?”
Probably for lunch, or dinner yesterday… Actually most of the food we eat is home cooked, in the RV. I actually wish we would have more money to spend on eating out. But we ALWAYS appreciate being invited for dinner, so please keep inviting us!

“It must be nice to have a two year vacation, just cruising around the US!
Seriously, that would be a dream come true. But we have to work every day with booking shows, doing promotion, driving to the next gig, performing etc. We work more and harder than we ever had before. And it’s worth it for sure, but it’s NO vacation.
