Emergency update!!!

So I’ve spent my first night here in LA. Me and Warren met up with his lovely friend Kristin and she took us to the Hotel CafĂ© where a bunch of people played live. It was awsome but I was a partypooper and wanted to get some sleep. Anyway, when we were about to leave I spotted Aqualung in the audience. I managed to work up some nerves to speak to him, and he seemed to think I was some annoying fan (which I am). But there were like a couple of showcases at SXSW that I didn’t want to miss and one of them was Aqualung’s. I only managed to stay for a few songs but he was really good. I joked to my cellist Christian that Aqualung could be his gay little brother (I don’t even know if he’s gay, and if he would read this he would probably hate me) they do look a little bit alike.. just check this out:

Tour blog begins today!

On the Lollapalooza tour I blogged on Aftonbladet.se but this time I thought I’d give all my non-swedish friends and fans an opportunity to follow me on tour, so my tour blog this time will be in english here on my own website.

Flight trip

I’ve just arrived in Canada for Canadian Music week and am exploiting the free wifi on the Fairmont to write this. The trip yesterday was about 14 hours long and we were very happy to have some pizza and get some rest on an inflatable bed at my friend Gary Taxali’s house here in Toronto when we arrived. Gary is the most talented artist, he designed the stunning coverart for Aimee Mann’s latest album and when he heard we were coming here he invited us to stay with him. Check out Gary’s work here: http://www.garytaxali.com

Today’s mission is to check out Toronto, pick up some lotion (I realized I was allergic to the one I brought from home) and to check out my favourite store “Forever 21”.

Social media monday

I’m currently trying to connect all of my social media sites to update and talk to each others. A bit confusing but it’s working pretty decent. My website is run from wordpress and i got plugins that will publish updates of my posts to twitter.com, ping.fm. My RSS feed is feeding feedburner.com with all the news and my facebook and myspace pages are picking it up and publishing it on my pages there.

If anyone got any other smooth solutions to integrating stuff more, feel free to contact me. You’ll find me online on these links. 🙂

Rave review from Ninthspace

I just got this lovely review from Ninthspace! Thank you so much! 🙂

“I guess, by the time a musician gets to their third album they know whether it’s going to work out for them. Not writing, recording and touring as a hobby, but embracing their talents and working with something that’s turned out to be innate to their existence. There are perhaps a handful of musicians that I could categorise in such a way.

With the release of Jonestown, Sofia Talvik easily gets over the idea of the difficult third album (younger sibling of the difficult second album) and turns out a collection that eclipses her first two. Opening track and lead single As Summers Pass recalls the past with its acoustic progressions, but the subsequent song My James Dean is astonishing.

Because it’s not what you’re expecting. Sure it has these synth pads that appear to hang over from its predecessor, but the guitar loops lower, more geared towards grooving. The best way I can describe it is the merging of the droning synth-rock of Stereolab and the sub-Spektor inclinations of El Perro del Mar with piano too.

Over the top of this comes Sofia’s outstanding vocals and a plaintiff declaration that I’m not that special. But she is.

Video in progress!

In a few weeks the first single from my upcoming album “Jonestown” will be released. We’re also releasing a video to the single and the preparations are in full progress. The talented designer/tailor Sanna Nyström will design a beautiful dress for me to wear in the video, and today we met up to discuss her thoughts about the design and take some measurements.

Here’s a sneak preview of the design.
