Twitterers gets it first!

sommar

In May I’m releasing the new summer single. The song is called “Strawberries on my tongue” and captures the essence of Swedish summer, with rainy days and sweet strawberries. I’m missing out on Swedish summer this year as I’m going to Florida to play at Florida Music Festival and start the recordings on my new album, but this song will remind me even though I’m on the other side of the Atlantic.

As you can see on the front page twitterers can download the remix album “Street of Dreamix” with just one tweet and the summer single will also be released exclusively to all of you who follow me on twitter first. So if you’d like to get your copy of “Strawberries on my tongue” before everyone else, sign up on Twitter.com and follow my flow for more updates!

Mixing my new summer single

Today has been a lovely sunny day in Stockholm. I started it by having some breakfast at a local café with my guitarist who is also my neighbour. So what would be a better day than this to go to the studio to listen to Magnus Frykberg mixing my summer single?! It sounded great, but I already knew Magnus was brilliant so it was no surprise 🙂 Here’s a small preview from the studio. The single will be released before the summer so make sure you sign up to the newsletter (you’ll find it on the front page) for more news about release date.

Private shop closing temporarily soon.

This is the last chance to get personally signed albums sent to you before the summer!

Sofia Talvik Shop

So why am I closing my shop? I’m about to head over to the U.S to start to record a new album.
I’m leaving in May and will be there for about three months. I’m leaving all my albums at home since I don’t want to drag them with, so I will not be able to ship any signed album to you guys.

The shop closes 26th April.
I’ll keep you informed on when I’ll be opening the shop again.

Rave review from Ninthspace

I just got this lovely review from Ninthspace! Thank you so much! 🙂

“I guess, by the time a musician gets to their third album they know whether it’s going to work out for them. Not writing, recording and touring as a hobby, but embracing their talents and working with something that’s turned out to be innate to their existence. There are perhaps a handful of musicians that I could categorise in such a way.

With the release of Jonestown, Sofia Talvik easily gets over the idea of the difficult third album (younger sibling of the difficult second album) and turns out a collection that eclipses her first two. Opening track and lead single As Summers Pass recalls the past with its acoustic progressions, but the subsequent song My James Dean is astonishing.

Because it’s not what you’re expecting. Sure it has these synth pads that appear to hang over from its predecessor, but the guitar loops lower, more geared towards grooving. The best way I can describe it is the merging of the droning synth-rock of Stereolab and the sub-Spektor inclinations of El Perro del Mar with piano too.

Over the top of this comes Sofia’s outstanding vocals and a plaintiff declaration that I’m not that special. But she is.

First Jonestown video released

“As summers pass” is the first single released from my third album ‘Jonestown’
With “Jonestown” I’ve further evolved my sound, joining forces with respected artist and producer Tobias Fröberg, who has toured with José Gonzales and produced the artist Peter Morén from “Peter, Bjorn and John”.

You can get the single from or from my own store.

The video is directed and produced by Jonas Westin. And the cool dress is designed and tailored by Sanna Nyström!
