New Album 2009: Vlog #5

“The closet recordings”… that’s a nice name  for a new album, but I’m not sure I’ll chose it for my upcoming one, although I have moved into the closet to continue my recordings. I’m doing some more vocal takes at home and ordered a mic stand from musiciansfriend.com much cheaper than Guitar Center which I basically live on top of. Being alone in the closet gives me the comfort of having no one listening, being able to try out different stuff even if it might sound weird or wrong without a clock ticking away in a studio session. So I’ll probably do most of the vocals in here. Welcome to the tour!

Totally free music spotlight!

The blog “Totally free music” writes a little something about my summer single. Click the text to read the full version:

“Song spotlight: Sofia Talvik Strawberries on my tongue
In one of the best uses of Twitter I have yet seen, Swedish singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Sofia Talvik has made her new summer single, “Strawberries On My Tongue”, available for the “price” of one tweet. (…) Though it’s not yet summer anywhere on this planet, listening to “Strawberries On My Tongue” might make you feel like it is (even if you have a frost warning in your overnight forecast, as I do!). Happy listening!”

SXSW is over but I’m still in Austin

Yes, weird isn’t it. It’s been really hectic the last few days and I haven’t found any time to blog but I’ll try to make up for it now. Friday we had a morning gig at Sweden goes South by Southwest. It was really nice on an outside patio, but unfortunatley Sweden has sooo many talanted bands that we only got to play four songs each.

god bless

Hurrying through our songs...

As they only served vegan food on the party, we decided to go and have a real Texas BBQ dinner that night. I had the junior portion but still couldn’t finish it. The guys had the regular portion and DID finish it all, just check out the evidence here:

Yummy!

Saturday we played our last gig at the Sheraton Hotel, which was really nice. We also signed with the American record label Worldsound which we’ve hung out with for the last few days. It’s really exciting and I hope it means you all will see more of me in the US in the future. We finished Saturday night a bit diffrently in the band. I sang a duet with Austrian singer/songwriter Florian Horwath on his set, the guys had some Jack Daniels and Joakim lost his wallet on the snack machine on the hotel (he got it back though, 50 bucks poorer).

This morning the guys packed their things and left early to the airport. I’m feeling very lonely, especially since Jonas left too. I know it’s silly but I already miss him terribly. Tomorrow I’m off to LA to play at a dinner party set up by the Swedish Consulate so that’s why I’m still here in Austin. So my dear friends, more updates to come from LA next!

New interview on Riveting Riffs!

Canadian Music Zine “Riveting Riffs” has just published a fresh interview with me!

Preview
“Sofia Talvik is a pop star on the rise. She has already conquered her native Sweden, won the hearts of those at Chicago’s Lollapalooza music festival in August of 2008, and in March of 2009 the gifted singer / songwriter, with the breathtaking vocals, will be appearing at SXSW in Austin Texas, followed by an appearance at the Canadian Music Festival in Toronto, Canada. Talvik, who writes all of her lyrics in English, has received strong radio play on Sweden’s radio stations, and recently recorded a mini concert and interview for SR P3, which was aired on November 12th. Her current CD Jonestown is causing quite a stir on the international music scene, with her single, “My James Dean…”

New review from Smålandsposten!
