Unmistakably Nordic in flavor, Sofia Talvik somehow still conforms to American interpretations of her own original music, a North Sea siren blending sparkle and melancholy, creating a special niche of folk music.
I just got a little update from rockers Badmouth who are recording “T – Part Three of H.A.T.E”. Chips Kiesby is producing the EP and you can actually already listen to one of the songs and pre-order the EP here! This is going to be the party album of the year! Remember where you heard it first đ
H.A.T.E is the mirror project of my L.O.V.E EP quartet released every 3 months during 2011. Four rock bands record my songs in their own manner.
“E – Part Four of L.O.V.E” is coming along nicely! Here’s some pics and videos from our first recording session. Marcus was a bit annoyed with me for making him have wine before recording but we had a good time and as you can hear it sounds great too đ
“L.O.V.E” consists of four separate EP’s with four tracks each, that will be released every 3 months during 2011.
I had a great response raising the money to release the first 3 EPs, not only were the fans influencing and enabling the releases, they also got access to the making through exclusive videos, demo releases, blogs and my musical journey.
2. Enjoy Updates
I’ll be posting exclusive videos, mp3’s, photos, and blogs throughout our journey. You’ll be able to comment, so if you have any interesting ideas, let me know.
3. Receive the download first
Once completed, you’ll be the very first to receive the download of the album. I’ll then be making all of your items, and the Pledge project will then come to a close.
I run my own label, produce everything by myself and I’m very hands on with the music and everything around it. All the bundles are endorsed and personally produced. They represent a personal part of me and I want to share that with you.
Please do keep checking back for updates and you can always hang out with me on http://www.facebook.com/sofiatalvikmusic and I look forward to our journey together.
I met up with G.A.I.N who have recorded the second part of the H.A.T.E saga, ‘A – Part Two of H.A.T.E’. Here’s their thoughts about the project.
Hi G.A.I.N! You guys are doing “A – part two of H.A.T.E” how is the EP coming along?⨠Itâs coming along very well. Itâs all done and waiting to be released. Niklas StĂĽlvind of Wolf produced and mixed. Mike Wead of King Diamond and bibelblack mastered. From the final result we can definitely say that it sounds kick-ass! Weâre very proud of what weâve done and we canât wait until we can share the result with the world!
â¨â¨Great! Can you tell us a little bit about yourselves? â¨Weâre just a couple of metalheads doing what we love. We all come from different places but our love for Metal brought us together. We all live in Stockholm and we like to go out and have a good old dirty time. It happens a little too often but thatâs Metal for you! We live by the motto, Sex, Booze and Tattoos! â¨â¨
What did you think of the original songs when you first heard them and did you think it was hard to interpret them into your own style or did you get ideas straight away?⨠When we first heard the songs we wondered what the hell weâd gotten or selfâs in to. It was a little hard to âconnectâ with the songs at first but after a few listeningâs they grew on us and now we like them. â¨We decided early not to listen to the originals that much too ensure that our versions came more from us, so that they would sound like G.A.I.N. â¨Some songs we had ideas for right after the first listen but some came harder. The song that came easiest was probably âKing of the Willow Treeâ and one that we had to work a bit on was âGlowâ. â¨â¨
Which of the songs are you most pleased with and why?⨠Our favorites are probably King of the Willow Tree and The War. We really like the raw drive of the riffs in both songs. They are really in our own style and donât sound like covers at all. Your way of writing really fitted well into our kind of music. They came out just like our own songs.â¨â¨
What’s your favorite gig memory?⨠Three of us remember on gig in particular. Mr Bandiit was a little too excited and played a bit fast. This resulted in that Gus had to prioritize ether singing or breathing in the last song. He chose to sing⌠â¨He gave his last bit of energy in that song and as a result of that he ended up taking an ambulance ride to the hospital. â¨â¨
Can you tell us a little bit about the recording sessions and what was most fun with being a part of this project?⨠We recorded everything in Viper Studios. From this experience we learned that we will never record four songs in two days again. Itâs borderline impossible and we donât recommend it. We finished all the rhythm guitars and the drums in one day and thought we were doing very well. Only lead guitar, bass and vocals left right? The lead guitar and the bass were done at about 8 oâclock the next night. The vocals took another 7-8 hours and would have taken longer if it werenât for the excellent vocal coaching Niklas StĂĽlvind of Wolf provided. Weâre forever grateful for that.⨠But on the whole it has been a lot of fun to be part of this project. Weâve learned a lot and would like to thank you for this opurtunity.â¨â¨
What’s next on the agenda for G.A.I.N this fall?⨠Get out and play. The big damn show! This fall we will focus on getting out and bring our music to the masses. We havenât played all summer so weâre really excited about getting out there again! Weâll just have to make sure that Gus gets to breath. Do you know where we can get a portable oxygen tank?
â¨â¨Thanks for hanging out! We look forward to hearing the songs.
You haven’t forgotten about the mirror project of L.O.V.E have you? The second EP in the H.A.T.E series is soon being released and it’s the ultra cool rock band G.A.I.N from Sweden who has recorded this awesome version of ‘O – Part Two of L.O.V.E’. Be prepared for heavy riffs, spot on vocals and drums that will make your world shake!
Here’s a some videos from one of the recording sessions.
G.A.I.N is: Gus Savage – Guitar and Vocals, Johnnie Bane – Bass and Vocals, Rob Thorn – Lead Guitar, Rob Bandiit – Drums
The pledge has been up for just a few days, but we’ve already broken the 25% mark! That’s so great! Thank you!
The other day I was in the studio adding some electric guitar to one of the songs from ‘V -part three of L.O.V.E’. Producer Janne Manninen was a great coach in telling me how to play and it turned out great.
There’s also been some questions about the new pledge and the difference between this one and the other ones.
Q – What’s the difference between Pledgemusic and Bandcamp and why have you changed the platform?
A – Pledgemusic is just for pledges and Bandcamp is an online store system. We decided to use Bandcamp for this pledge as it’s more of a pre-order system and not a fundraiser.
Q – The price is now in Euros, will I pay the same as when I payed in Dollars?
A – The prices are still the same, but Bandcamp has their prices in Euros.
Q – Will the money be withdrawn from my account at the time I pledge or when the pledge is finished?
A – This time, as this is more of a pre-order system, your money will be withdrawn directly when you pledge. You are also guaranteed to get the items you pledged for.
Q – Will we still get updates like with the previous pledges?
A – Yes, it will all work like before and you’ll be able to follow and be a part of the whole production.
Feel free to email us any questions you might have! Here’s some pics from the Studio!
