Sofia Talvik’s Xmas Calendar: #4

When I released my album Jonestown I released 12 live videos where I play the songs from the album live with different Swedish guest artists. One of them was Christian Kjellvander and I am proud to tell you that he will once again play with me, this time on my Xmas concert “Sofia Talviks Julmys” at Mosebacke this Sunday!

If you’re in Sweden you should also turn up the volume on your radio today for Musikplats Stockholm in P4 where I’ll be a guest!

Known for both his career in the band Loosegoats as well as his many praised solo albums, Christian Kjellvander is probably the most American country-esque singer/songwriter in the whole of Scandinavia. Or as “The Sun” describes his music; “You’d bet your bottom dollat that the man behind it lived in a small American town.”

Jammin’ with Papa Dee

Every week until the release of my new album “Jonestown” I’m inviting a new Swedish guest artists to do songs from the album with me. When all the live videos are released there will be a competition where you can win a signed copy of the album.

I’ve been so fortunate to have all my favorite artists sing with me and this week I’m proudly presenting Sweden’s own reggae wonder Papa Dee.

Papa Dee is Sweden’s reggae pioneer, and has released albums for over twenty years. Right now he’s back in the spotlight with his new album “A Little Way Different”. The first single “Suzy Wong” is now spinning on the Swedish radio. Papa Dee is also known from the radio show P3 Rytm and the tv travel show Papa’s kappsäck.

In the end of October 2009 I’m releasing my third album “Jonestown” in the USA and later on in Japan. To give you a preview of the songs from the album I have gathered 12 of my favorite Swedish artists who will each perform one song from the album live with me on tape. Every week a new video is released, with a new song and a new guest artist.

Sofia Talvik / Tom Levin – Arms and armour

Tom’s teenage years took him to Alaska, where he lived as an exchange student. It was here that his vocal talents were first discovered when the host family’s daughter heard him singing in the shower. Urged on by the host family’s belief in his abilities, Tom made his debut as a soloist in the school choir. But when Tom returned to Sweden, he put his music on the back shelf and started studying economics.
In June 2007 Tom’s song “Please disturb me” reach 4 reached 4 on AC/hot AC/New Music Weekly in the USA and it reached 3 on Independent Music Networks Mainstream.

On the 12th of December 2006 Tom Levin’s song “Just” reached 1 on New Music Weekly’s radio charts in the US (specifically the AC/Hot AC Main Chart and AC/Hot AC Indie Chart), and has to date been 1 for four consecutive weeks. “Just” also reached 8 on the Hot 100 Chart / New Music Weekly, and the Top 100 Chart / Friday Morning Quarter Back / ACQB.
Tom’s new album “Unfair in my favor” was released on June 11.

Featured on Diesel:U:Music

I’m being featured on the radio show Diesel:U:Music, 101.7 WFNX, August 8th.

Broadcasts will run Fridays at midnight in August 2009 and this half-hour emerging artists show is a block of time with all the music and programming selected by Diesel:U:Music.

The show will air for 4 weeks and is designed to highlight the best emerging talent in the Sonicbids community. The edition where they will play my music will air at midnight on Aug 8 (Friday overnight).

If you’re not going to be in the Boston area, you can hear it on wfnx.com, which is a worldwide stream.
