Unmistakably Nordic in flavor, Sofia Talvik somehow still conforms to American interpretations of her own original music, a North Sea siren blending sparkle and melancholy, creating a special niche of folk music.
I need to learn some more German now that I am beginning to tour here in Germany. I just wanted to give you some info about my plans for the fall!
I’m doing a bunch of shows around my new home town Berlin and will then branch out to entertain people in Cologne, Stuttgart and several other places around this beautiful country. As fall is coming and it’s getting colder I need your warm love and support, so please bring 10 of your best friends and come to my shows!
It’s always nice to come to Florida even though there’s recenty been a cold front here and I was hoping for warmer weather after chilly Arizona and New Mexico. So I’ve got a few shows around FL in February and I’m also stopping by a few radio shows. The other day I was on “Florida Folk” at WMNF 88.5 in Tampa and if you missed it you can listen here (I’m on about 30 minutes into the show)
Today I woke up early to be on WHOA 100 in Sarasota and tonight I’m stopping by WSLR’s “New and Blue Session” where I’m also going to play a few songs live.
I’m doing a couple of shows around FL and I hope to see you there:
02/08 Sarasota: WSLR concert at Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center 7:30 (w/ Richard Smith) 02/09 Northport: Café Evergreen 5:30pm 02/10 Bonita Springs: Flamingo Island Flea Market 2pm 02/13 Miami Beach: Van Dyke Café 10pm 03/01 Gainesville: Civic Media Center 8pm
I played a concert at the Historic Grand Theatre in Salem, OR earlier this fall and it’s now airing on CCTV all month along with a Salem Songwriter session of my new Christmas single “One Last Wish For Christmas“.
The 30 minute Salem songwriter session with me will be aired in January. Salem Songwriter Sessions is a new program on CCTV (Salem, OR.). Songwriters have the opportunity to talk about their music and to play several of their songs in a relaxed atmosphere. Host Tom Phillips interviews songwriters about their interests, influences an inspirations.
You can check out the Salem Songwriter Session Facebook page here!
Gustaf and Jens are two guys who just happen to love beer. Well tell me about a guy who doesn’t you might think, but seriously, these guys love beer so much they actually brew their own harvest beer once a year, and it’s so popular it sells out instantly in Sweden.
in 2011 Gustaf and Jens invited me to play at their outdoors pop up restaurant at Öland’s Harvest Festival, so now I figured I’d ask them if they would be a part of my Christmas Calendar. In this window Jens will show you how to make a Swedish Christmas drink with beer called “Mumma”. They will also give you a short history lesson, how about that!
You can find information about Gustaf an Jens and their yearly harvest beer here! If you go to their website you will also find the recipes of some of the delicious food they serve with their craft beer. I’ve typed up the recipe for Mumma for you below. I hear it especially tasty if you listen to my new Christmas single while you drink it! Enjoy!
Gustaf och Jens Mumma recipe!
11 oz lager beer 11 oz dark beer; stout or similar 8 oz sparkling water/mineral water (you can add some sugar to it to sweeten it up) 3 oz sherry Stir and serve!
Gustaf Waesterberg: Chef with a special love for organic food turned photographer. Jens Skrubbe: Beer sommelier and bar manager at Pressklubben in Stockholm.
My favorite food on the Christmas dinner table is the Swedish Christmas ham, but I know that a lot of people out there prefer to not eat meat for Christmas. One talanted artist that was a guest on my Xmas Calendar in 2009 showed me some great ways to celebrate Christmas without meat, and I decided to share that episode with you guys as a re-run.
Stiko Per Larsson is a great Swedish artist who is not only a vegetarian, but also have a habit of doing long walking tours. He’s walked all over Scandinavia playing his music. Check out his music and upcoming gigs here!
