Nashville and Memphis

Sofia Talvik live - photo by Virdeo Puro

I’m currently freezing my fingers off in Tuscaloosa, AL where I’m playimg at the Bama Theatre tomorrow but as I’m in the Coffice  (Starbucks) working, I figured I’d let you know a little about my upcoming stops on the tour.

I’m playing in Nashville at The Listening Room Cafe on the 16th. And make sure you note the time, the gig is as early as 4.30pm!

Then we’re heading to Memphis for The Folk Alliance International Conference where we’re doing three showcases. The conference is held at Memphis Marriott and you’ll be able to hear me sing and play on the following dates and times:

Wednesday, February 22 at 9:40
Thursday, February 23 at 8:00pm
Saturday, February 25 at 1:10am

Almost 15 years have passed since the birth of her solo carrier, and yet Meja’s history is not about what happened “ then”. It will always be about what Is happening” now”. The Mega hits are still spinning around in our minds, our lips are still humming “It´s all about the Dum-dum-du-du-du-dum” and the stories of the Japanese mass euphoria are regarded as literacy. It’s nice with fixed stars, the artists we feel are “ours” whom we can feel proud of. But to rely on old ways would be unfair, not only to Meja’s variety and creativity, and if we don’t look ahead we will miss out on a multifaceted artist with the fingers in more cookie jars than most.

Silly.

This is my daily routine: come home from work, embark myself in my bedroom studio and play until my fingers bleed.

It gets really hot in there as well as I have to have all windows and doors closed. So today I had to cut off a pair of nylon stockings, make little holes for my fingers and use it as a glove on my left hand because my palm was so damp and I couldn´t change the chords fast enough and kept getting stuck. Not very stylish I tell you, but it worked!

Anyway, I feel rather content with todays recording even though I kept getting cramps in my hands and my fingertips are kind of sore now

I decided to post a little sample of today´s recording of "It´s silly now". I haven´t begun recording the band yet so it´s just me so far. Maybe I´ll add new versions later and you can all hear how the song evolves with more instruments.

Listen here: Silly

Time for tea, tata folks!
