Upcoming Ohio dates and Scene magazine!

Clevescene recommends my gig at the Spider

I’m in the Buckeye state! That’s Ohio for all of you who are not familiar with this somewhat weird nick name. I actually had to look up what it means and here’s what I found out. Not only did the state have a lot of Buckeye trees but William Henry Harrison who ran for president in 1840 used a log cabin made out of buckeye wood his trademark and the name of the tree itself comes from the markings on the nut that resembles the eye of a buck, the Indians called it “hetuck” or “buckeye.” So that’s today’s history lession for you. Now, let’s focus on what’s yet to come!

I’m doing a bunch of gigs here in the Buckeye state and I hope to see you there of course!  Here’s all upcoming Ohio dates:

Monday, 07/09     Cleveland, OH     Barking Spider Tavern
Wednesday, 07/11     Akron, OH     Acoustix Cafe
Thursday, 07/12     Akron, OH     Annabells Bar and Lounge

Swedish American newspaper Nordstjernan just published an interview about my tour. Nordstjernan was founded in 1872 and is the oldest Scandinavian publication in the US. They visited me for my shows in NYC, of which the last one is today Thursday June 7th at Ella Lounge 7pm.

Hear me live on Ladies Night

On May 20th at 7pm I’ll visit the online radio station 40FootHoleStudio’s show Ladies Night to play a couple of songs and talk about my tour. It’s a show about female artists and their music (men are also welcome to listen though). The show is aired every Sunday at 7pm EST. / 12am UK time and can be heard in 30 countries.

“Founder Dave McMahon, whose musical devotion lies somewhere between fan and fanatic, explained how he first started as an internet DJ. ‘I love music,” he said “but I hate radio.’”

Which explains why the station is focused on indie music and not top 40 and have no commercial ads in between the songs.

You can check out 40FootHoleStudio’s Facebook site to see their latest updates and if you want to listen live, just click here.

“A thing of spectral acoustic beauty”

I’m tracking my footprints, or rather tire tracks, back towards the east coast and will be re-visiting a few of my favorite concert venues and exploring a couple of new ones along the way. So it’s extra nice when Connect Savannah gives me this “welcome back” in their latest edition:

Sofia Talvik’s newest collection of songs, The Owls Are Not What They Seem, sounds like it could have been recorded in the early 1970s, when singer/songwriters were prized for their eccentricity, and the striking colors they brought as individuals to commercially-viable acoustic balladry. (…)

On this album, she is clearly in her element. It is a thing of spectral acoustic beauty, and this Monday night performance is highly recommended by us jaded fools here at Connect.
