Unmistakably Nordic in flavor, Sofia Talvik somehow still conforms to American interpretations of her own original music, a North Sea siren blending sparkle and melancholy, creating a special niche of folk music.
It was so hard to decide the winners of the Christmas poem contest as there were so many great contributions. However, the contest was for a poem to put on your Christmas gift and there were two poems who stood out in the crowd and earned a 1st and 2nd place in the contest. A huge thank you to all participants! You can check out the challenge here!
The winner is *drumroll* Jackie LeBlanc who wrote a poem for a pair of fuzzy toe socks she’s giving for a friend (oops! I hope I didn’t ruin the surprise!) Jackie will receive a secret Christmas gift from Sofi.. I mean Santa. Here’s Jackies winning poem:
Each day, each week, each month, each season… We’ve become friends and that’s the reason – Thru weather of rain, snow or heat.. Having you as a friend just can’t be beat! I care if you’re freezin’ -with ice on your nose – So I give you this gift, For your ten little toes!
On an honorable second place is Juliana Palmcook with her ingenious poem about a Christmas gift everyone can give no matter if you’re rich or poor… guess what! Juliana will get a special Christmas greeting in the mail!
My gift cannot be bought, It doesn’t have a price tag; yet it is priceless, It will keep you warm on a cold winter day, It helps chase the blues away, Although once in awhile you see it at the stores being exchanged, My gift is free but with arms attached, If you don’t need it now you can get a rain-check, There is a rebate but not like you think, It is yours forever to remember, I don’t know who could ask for more, because it is really big, My gift is wrapped with arms, Can you guess my gift? Hint, it is a 3 letter word… I hope that rings a jingle bell.
We had a little competition on the night of the release party where all you fans could take a picture of the gig, post it on Facebook and compete for a Sofia Talvik Florida tote. We had so many great contributions that it was really hard to choose a winner.
But by capturing the happiness and and ambiance of the gig and by proving that you do not need a professional camera to take a great picture Therese Göterheim made us look twice at this lovely picture.

I just got news that one of my songs won an award for Best Score/Soundtrack at the Connecticut Film Festival this weekend!
This is from the Music Supervisor/Associate Producer:
“I want to congratulate all of the bands as well as our composer Joe Carrano for the BEST SCORE/SOUNDTRACK award we won at the Connecticut Film Festival this weekend!
This is your award! We are very proud of Joe and all the great bands that have contributed to the soundtrack of this film.
We are very grateful for this award and are not surprised in getting it due to the incredible talent that you all have contributed. Even before the film was officially premiered, the soundtrack always tested very high.
Please share your accomplishment with your fans and friends…you all deserve a share in the praise!
The next stops for the film will be: The Rhode Island International Film Festival and the Woods Hole Film Festival. Both of these festivals are very well thought of and have premiered some pretty big films in the past (e.g. Rhode Island premiered the hit “Something about Mary”) so keep your figures crossed 🙂
As far as GoodNight Film, we have been very busy in preproduction with two new films that will be co-produced by Baldwin Entertainment Group (producers of the academy award winning film “Ray” ). Both of these films will be directed by A.D.Calvo (director/writer/editor/producer of “The Other Side of the Tracks”). One of these two projects is a new script written by A.D. Both of these projects are amazing (I’m especially excited about the creepy script written by A.D.!). I really wish I could say more about both these projects and will soon…
Again, the producers and myself want to extend a huge THANK YOU for your contributions to the “Award Winning” soundtrack of this film…this is your award and something to be very proud of….THANK YOU!
