I’m a lineman…

Everytime I need to do something, like recordings for a new album or something. I get this urge to do something else, something that I don’t need to do. That’s how I started doing the Christmas singles and all the other stuff that I do, just me, just by myself. So I guess it was no surprise that instead of going through the recorded files last week, I picked up the guitar and learned the old classic “Wichita Lineman”. Years back I had a brief collaboration with Swedish artist Niclas Frisk (Atomic Swing, A Camp). He was the one who first played me this song and I still love it. So thank you Niclas! And here’s how it turned out sounding in my kitchen…

Don’t bother with the video? Listen to the mp3.

LA and the giant sandwich

I played at the dinner that A&R Worldwide and the Swedish Consulate held yesterday. (A big thank you to the organizers for having me, it was a great honour!) It was nothing like I had expected. I thought it was going to be more of a networking thing, where people would mingle and talk while I stood in a corner singing. Instead there were a hundred seated people, totally quiet, just looking at me. I got so nervous I thought my knees would shake me off the planet! But I got through it and then Kristin, Peter and Warren took me to the Troubador.
I’m going home today so I’m having my last american sandwich…

…which is basically a sandwich monster. I bought one yeaterday, so this is actually the left over half of that one. I can’t imagine why they want to overstuff their sandwiches like this.

I’m actually so glad I’m going home today. First of all since I get to go home to Jonas, second because my ears hurt from all the english. It gets kind of intense after a while, and I think the phrases I’ve used most during these two weeks have been:
“That’s cool”
“That’s awsome”
“That’s a good thing”

and of course “Thank you so much” which I am also saying now to you guys for following my tour blog. I hope you got to see one of my showcases in Austin, where I had my lovely band with me (I missed you guys so much yesterday). Good by America!

Social media monday

I’m currently trying to connect all of my social media sites to update and talk to each others. A bit confusing but it’s working pretty decent. My website is run from wordpress and i got plugins that will publish updates of my posts to twitter.com, ping.fm. My RSS feed is feeding feedburner.com with all the news and my facebook and myspace pages are picking it up and publishing it on my pages there.

If anyone got any other smooth solutions to integrating stuff more, feel free to contact me. You’ll find me online on these links. 🙂

Sofia Talvik – because I care

Yet another post today. I’m keeping busy!
Sometimes I get fan mail and I try to answer them all, unless they’re really weird or really dirty. A while back I got a fan mail from a girl called Jenny. I laughed all day because of her email, because she requested a picture of me, but she wouldn’t settle for the usual press photo – she wanted a pic of me with an pet. I’m a big fan of Erik Eriksson’s book “Brev till samhället” which basically is Erik sending all sorts of weird letters to different companies, banks, gouverments etc, demanding all sorts of strange stuff and then publish their answers. I kind of felt this could be such an email, but then again, you never know so of course I answered her email as best I could.

But it did turn out to be a prank, or rather a study in how many celebs who actually answer their fans email. You can read the story (and the email and my answer) here:
