Unmistakably Nordic in flavor, Sofia Talvik somehow still conforms to American interpretations of her own original music, a North Sea siren blending sparkle and melancholy, creating a special niche of folk music.
This Thursday I was invited to play at the Swedish American Museum in Chicago. What a great night it turned out to be. I’ve played at the museum once before, when I was on my Lollapalooza tour in 2008 so it was a real treat to be invited back. There were over 120 people in the audience and we had a very nice VIP reception before the show.
Many thanks to Karin Moen Abercrombie and the other board members of the Swedish American Museum for a wonderful night, and to Konstnärsnämnden for supporting as well.
Here’s some pictures from the show. You can see the full album here!

I’m excited to be doing a concert on July 26th at the Swedish American Museum in Chicago. The show starts at 7pm and the tickets are $15 pre-sale (click here to buy now) or $20 at the door. There will be a V.I.P. Reception with a meet and greet with me beginning at 6 pm tickets cost $25 per person for that.
Last time I played at the museum I was on my Lollapalooza tour so I’m very excited to be invited back for a show on my Drivin’ & Dreaming tour. I hope to see you all there!
I’ve done a couple of radio shows the last weeks so I figured I should put up a post for those of you who missed them when they aired.
On June 14th I visited Bostons #1 music show Dropping Knowledge WMBR 88.1 FM and played a couple of songs. If you missed it you can listen here! (don’t be alarmed when it wants you to download, it’s just a little file so that you can stream it in iTunes)
In short, Sofia Talvik has the talent, but she also has something far rarer in an artist—boundless determination, and a genuine love of performance over fame.
That’s what Left End WERS 88,9 FM wrote after having me over for some songs and a chat on June 24th. You can read the whole (awesome!) article here!
You can also listen to the show here or just listen to it by hitting play below:
Yesterday (June 14th) I did an appearance and played live at Dropping Knowledge on WMBR 88.1 FM , Cambridge’s (MA) #1 music radio show! I played four songs live in the studio and talked with Joe G about the tour and the new album. If you missed out you can listen here! Don’t get alarmed about this looking as you have to download the show, it’s just a small player that will allow you to stream the episode on your computer!
The Norse goddess played here at the Bama theatre last week and totally wowed the crowd. Definately a do not miss. Some traditional folk, infused with her Swedish musical heritage. Haunting, great songwriting, and unique melodies! About 100 people and Nobody got up for the bathroom, or a beer during her show. I heard people talking about how amazed they were again last night, a week later. Check her out if possible.”
