Unmistakably Nordic in flavor, Sofia Talvik somehow still conforms to American interpretations of her own original music, a North Sea siren blending sparkle and melancholy, creating a special niche of folk music.
Every year I release a free Christmas single and today at Advent second it’s up for grabs. As usual I want to urge people to do a good deed instead of paying me money for the single. It’s my Christmas gift to you and I hope you will pay it forward. This year I’m happy to be working with ActionAid as my choice of charity.
Too early? Well here in Florida, where the sun is shining every day and there’s no sign of any snow people have already started putting up their Christmas decorations. You guys know that my tradition is to release a Christmas song every year and I just thought I’d let you know that I will this year too!
This year I’m happy to announce that the charity connected to the song will be Action Aid. Action Aid works in 6 different areas: Hunger, Education, Women’s rights, Economic justice, Emergencies and conflict and HIV/AIDS.
The song will be released Advent second, or December 4th if you will. Keep checking in for updates!
Hi friends, this is a humble request so please bear with me.
I’m trying to raise funds for my new album “L”, the first EP of an four piece EP saga called L.O.V.E, and I’d be very grateful if you could help. As a thank-you you can download the EP free once it’s completed. It would mean a great deal to me if you would be a part of this musical saga. The minimum pledge of 10$ gets you the download when it’s done, but if you invest in an exclusive item that I have for sale the download is free.
By using a fan-funded model to raise the money to release the first EP “L”, not only would you be influencing and enabling the release, you would have access to many rare opportunities to own a piece of my musical journey. And in the end the whole “L.O.V.E” saga.
“L.O.V.E” consists of four separate EP’s with four tracks each, that will be released every 3 months during 2011.
The funding will pay for studio time, producer time, mastering and artwork.
20% of the profits will go to a charity that is close to my heart; ECPAT. Your donation will support ECPAT International’s work to prevent, protect and seek justice for child victims of sexual exploitation through legal, social and policy work undertaken for and with child survivors to deliver better care, improve practices and policies and ensure justice.
I run my own label Makaki Music, produce everything myself and I’m very hands on with the music and everything around it. All the bundles are endorsed and personally produced. They represent a personal part of me and I want to share that with you.
On 12th February 2009 175+ cities around the world will be hosting Twestivals which bring together Twitter communities for an evening of fun and to raise money and awareness for charity: water.
The Twestival is organized 100% by volunteers in cities around the world and 100% of the money raised from these events will go directly to support charity: water projects.
I will be contributiong to the cause by playing at the Twestival in Stockholm, as will Swedish band The Deportees. You can buy tickets to attend and the ticket fees will go to the cause as well.
Christmas is a time to do good deeds and I’ve stocked up on them this year! MQ (one of Sweden’s largest clothing companies) has joined forces with the Red Cross this Christmas in the campaign “Give a little bit” and I’m very happy to be a part of it. There will be a commersial on TV with 16 Swedish artists and we’re all giving our fees to the Red Cross. The Red Cross
I’m also, as usual each year, releasing a Christmas single. But this time I hope you will all visit Stadsmissionens website (Stadsmissionen helps homeless people in Sweden) and donate a gift by text message. If you do that you will get my Christmas single “A Carol for the Lonely” as a cellphone signal directly to your phone. The single will be available as mp3 here on my website as well.
